When you roar into our car park, hot off the A30, the first thing you'll see is our fantastic view - rolling Devon borders countryside with Brentor and its church in the distance - you may even catch a glimpse of Reg, our strawberry blonde monster-sized cat (the legendary beast of Portgate...) and Jerry our cockerel and his lovely hens.
Our aim at the Award Winning Harris Arms is to serve what we call 'Honest Food' - food with substance and style - which has been sourced locally and cooked by our team in the kitchen.
We have a great, regularly changing 'Specials Board' with exciting meat, game, poultry, fish and shellfish creations.
Our beef, lamb and pork are supplied by Phillip Warren of Launceston & Howells of Tavistock, local farmers, foragers and hunters and represents the best quality available locally. Our poultry comes from Creedy Carvers of Cullompton.
The fresh fish comes from Dennis Knights of Port Isaac who are renowned for the quality of their produce, our lobster, when available, comes fresh landed by Boscastle Seafood - plus the occasional 'catch' from Andy on his day off!
Our cheeses are artisanal and generally West Country in origin and represent the best available from Country Cheeses of Tavistock.
Our great wine list, which has won awards too, is pretty cool, with wines sourced from a network of merchants, small growers, or made by modern, ecologically sound wineries. Some wines are imported direct by us. All our wines are really good value for money.
We've also got lots of original art from all over the world and when the sun shines you can take lunch or dinner on our deck and chill out.
So folks, come on down to The Harris Arms - at the gateway to Cornwall and a perfect meeting place just off the A30 - drop in for a drink, a snack or a great meal and enjoy yourselves.
Children and dogs welcome.
We are open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday lunch to Sunday lunch (inclusive) but we are closed on Sunday evenings and all day Monday.
See you soon,
Andy and Rowena and the team at The Harris Arms.
